5 problem-solving sign innovations

1. Flexible and clean
Our challenge was to produce a resilient meeting room door sign with changeable side-slide panels – that didn’t create a dust trap and didn’t fly out sideways. We adapted existing machine tooling to incorporate a hidden lip to successfully meet all requirements in one simple step.

2. It’s a match
When adding signs to business property extensions there’s a need to carefully match the colours and materials of new signs to blend-in with existing ones – otherwise it stands out a mile. We colour code the match on-site to ensure compatibility with brand guidelines as well as existing signs.

3. Natural reflection
Using polished metal letters on a north-facing wall in a narrow street does not show-off your sign in it’s best light. We angled the letters by 10° to capture what natural light there was available and to reflect the sky rather than the dark buildings opposite.

4.Finishing touches
When fitting fascia signs on pale coloured buildings – we add a small angle on the bottom edge of the sign to encourage rain drips to fall from the sign, rather than run back to the wall . . . to avoid staining the building.

5.Optical illusion
Three dimensional letters are more expensive than flat cut ones. By adding another layer of flame polished clear acrylic to a flat lettered sign we can create an impression of depth . . . and allow for a more substantial fixing.
